When playing a rubato ballad, it’s important to create motion so that it's not just blocks of chords. Check out 3 ways that we can achieve motion over the first few bars of Everything Happens to Me:
1) Inner Voice Movements (i.e. nat7-b7 over min7 & sus-7b9 over dom7) 2) Breaking Up the Individual Voices of a Voicing 3) Sweeping Texture (this is where the LH & RH climb and MEET on the next chord) This is from a special LIVE solo piano performance at Libretto in Paso Robles, CA on 5/15/24.
