1) Song: Chega De Saudade (No More Blues)
By: Antonio Carlos Jobim
This Jobim tune is a Med. Bossa Nova, with a syncopated melodic displacement. Therefore, it's great practice sight reading melodies on the spot. Although in a performance situation you must listen to the tune first, in a chart reading opportunity you must be equipped with the tools to read complex rhythms.
Student B: Bijan Taghavi
I thought you guys might find it beneficial to have the option to see what I am working on. Yes, I am a student of music and will always be, as jazz is an endless language filled with new, adventurous explorations in various harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic ideas. Also to realize that I practice what I preach may vindicate you, for example, establishing the basics and growing logistically, and listening!
