1) "It's All About the L.H." (Oscar Peterson)
To quote the great Oscar Peterson, the Left Hand is the key to grounding the time, especially when playing "messy" RH runs over the barline. Notice here how the L.H. is playing constant dotted quarter notes, which lay out the time very clearly. 2) Stick the Landing You can play as messy of a RH run as you'd like, as long as you stick the landing with a strong rhythmic resolution! Notice here how we resolve the run on a strong Cmi7 chord on beat 1. This was from a special Bijan Taghavi Trio performance at the Ravenscroft in Scottsdale, AZ. To watch the full cut, CLICK HERE. |
