We often talk about the importance of phrasing in your solos - playing phrases with clear starts & ends them gives more weight to your phrases and allowing the music to breathe by leaving space in between phrases. But there is another benefit to phrasing and leaving space. Even if the space is as little as 1 beat, playing with clear phrasing allows the rest of the band to COMMENT in the spaces in between your phrases.
