Bijan Taghavi, 19, is a pianist, composer, and educator who is currently studying under scholarship as a sophomore at the Manhattan School of Music. Bijan has had a vast and diverse playing experience; he was the featured pianist performing with Grammy artist Nestor Torres, featured in the Orange County Register as the 2013 "Young Star of the Future" for a prize winning performance alongside the South Coast Symphony, performed alongside Metropolitan Opera singer Eric Jordan, and was a regular guest having performed, been interviewed, and featured on Jazz Quest Radio KX 93.5 Laguna Beach, California. He also hosted the weekly Jazz Night at Port in Corona Del Mar in 2015. Now in demand in the NYC and Southern California jazz scenes, performances have included many venues such as Alva's Showroom, Jazz at the Merc, Minton's Playhouse Harlem, Birdland Jazzista Social Club in Oakland, Croce's Park West, Soka Performing Arts Center, Renee & Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, Berklee Performance Center, Bowers Museum, Schumacher Hall, La Sierra University, Malibu Symphony, and Laguna Sound Recording Lounge, among others. In 2017, Bijan performed 3 nights at the Millennium Stage apart of the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Alongside a busy performing career, Bijan also works as a writer for the JazzPianoSchool.
