  1. Truly amazing vocal performance from the one and only Ella Fitzgerald; heartwarming! Vocal version will help you internalize the properly intended phrasing (at the minimum, come on you're listening to the great Ella!
  2. Erroll Garner's unique performance blends latin and swing. This hybrid, accomplished with a percussionist and drummer, produces an interesting rhythmic flavor in which Erroll capitalizes on!
  3. Here, Oscar recorded this tune as a bossa nova- immaculate technique and articulation!
  4. Hampton Hawes, the great blind pianist, whose tempo is really the only commonality of all these listenings to my performance.
  5. Slow Swing rendition, heavily-bebop influenced!

Recap

Bijan Taghavi provides insight on melodic embellishment and syncopated rhythms in this up-tempo swing performance of the classic All The Things You Are. This is a popular standard that everybody must know, the chord progression is the popular cycle of 4ths (widely known as the circle of 5ths) movement and makes for interesting improvisation. In this tutorial, I took various approaches.
