Check out how we fade out to end my Ahmad Jamal-inspired arrangement of "Secret Love”.
After a 3-6-2-5 tag, I spontaneously set up a rhythmic figure which continues in the bass - this is something that Maestro Ahmad Jamal would often do spectacularly with his infamous Trio's. After I set up the vamp groove, I do some short improvisation over the vamp as I gradually decrescendo. (**IMPORTANT: even when playing quiet, it is essential that the articulation of the chords remain crisp.**) Another way you can create a fade out effect is not just by decreasing in volume, but also by having instruments drop out. After Piano drops out, Bass & Drums continue repeating the rhythmic figure until the end. This is captured from 2018 Bijan Taghavi Trio Japan Tour - 12/26/18 @ LIVE HOUSE ROXX (Aomori, Japan).
