Teaching
“I have been entranced by your professorial analysis of Kenny Barron's Solo On a Slow Boat to China. It must be my 5th or 6th time through it, and I'm always inspired. Your step-by-step presentation with your own pianistic renderings is very instructive, and you demystify the genius and celerity of Kenny's magic hands. I must say that discovering you & your Artist Highlight feature on the JazzPiano site has been a very powerful resource and inspiration for me. Your work is truly awesome.” - Brainerd
"One thing I’ve enjoyed about your advice Bijan here and elsewhere is you have a way of building our confidence to make our own best decisions. That to me is sign of a good educator. Thanks so much!" - Chris
"Hi, I have, for years, been on a search for the right teacher to take me to the next level. I have been playing for 53 years. I am considered a very good piano player by many, but not at the level of being the jazz improviser that I desire to be. I have tried self-teaching with books, online courses and occasional local teachers, but something is missing to get me to play beyond chord tones and scales to something that has that 'Really cool Jazz Sound'. In searching all over the web I came across your solo in "Fly Me to the Moon", a tune I constantly work at. You have it....that's what I want to do. Amazing solo.” - Steve
Transcription
"The transcription is just as impressive as the solo" - James
"Just wanted to thank you for referring me to Bijan for the transcription work. I can honestly say that Bijan blew me away at what he did. He is EXCELLENT and has a GREAT ear for hearing parts. The recording I sent to him was very difficult as it had 2 interlaced clarinet parts with LOTS of notes at a fast tempo. Lots of 2 trumpet moving parts too. LOTS of notes to say the least with some parts buried under the vocals. (It's kinda different music). I am amazed that Bijon was able to pick these parts out with such accuracy. The man is gifted. Fees were very reasonable as I know how long some of these intricate songs can be to transcribe. Turn around time was fast too. I would highly recommend him to anyone." - Richard
