Rather than waiting for the start of the bar to start your phrases, playing THROUGH the barline is a great way to create forward momentum and a natural flow to your solos. Check out how this phrase starts in the middle of the bar and then continues into the next bar over "I Should Care."
This phrase was not only played through the barline but also through the start of the next half-chorus. This can create even more musical flow by creating the feeling of a 64 bar solo rather than 4 16 bar half-choruses. |
