Eighth Notes are your bread and butter at fast tempos. You must first have a command of eighth notes in order to selectively break up your eighth notes.
**PRO PRACTICE TIP: It's good to practice being able to improvise over the whole progression with all eighth notes so that you control the changes, rather than the changes controlling you. Then you need to learn how to leave space so your lines can breathe. So the question becomes: how can we break up the 1/8th note line? Try this rhythmic motif to break up your 1/8th note lines at burning, up tempos. From: Duo Concert w/ Altin Sencalar at Book Nook & Java Shop (10/18/23) |
