In this lesson we will examine a slick movement over a "Ima7-VI7-iimi7" progression. This works great for tunes that start on the iimi7 chord, like "I Fall In Love Too Easily" or "Body and Soul".
What is the DNA of this movement?
1) Ebma7 = V in the bass (Bb), VII-I triad motion (D-Eb)
2) CONNECTIVE TISSUE (m1,b4)
3) C7 = V7sus-V7b9
4) CONNECTIVE TISSUE (m2,b3+4) b b
5) Fmi7 = Resolving to a simple, pure Fmi7 chord with the 3 on top (LH: 1+ 7, RH: 3+5+ 3)
Experiment and come up with your own movements! This is a great way to:
1) Strengthen your harmonic knowledge
2) Fill in holes in uncomfortable keys by transposing your movements in comfortable keys to your unfamiliar keys
3) Apply them to tunes
