This is a great solo piano texture that creates a full sound out of the piano and a provides a contrasting groove to create variety in the architecture of your arrangement:
1) Full Sound ** RH: Octave Melodies (sometimes filling in with 1, 2 or 3 available tones) ** LH: Solo Piano Shells (1+7, 1+10 or sometimes even 1+3+7 or 1+7+10) 2) Contrasting Groove **Unlike Red Garland Block Chords, the hands are not in rhythmic unison. Instead, the LH is playing this "New Orleans Comping Pattern": 1 + &of2 + 4. This creates a great groove for the RH to play against. |
