How to Use 16th Notes in Jazz Improvisation.
1) 16th notes are a great way to build intensity. In this example, you can see how it cues the band to build from playing in 2 with brushes to playing in 4 with sticks for the start of the 2nd chorus. 2) Also note how the 16th note line RELEASES into 1/8th note triplets. This is a great way to avoid an abrupt end to your 16th note line.
