The intro is essential to do right because it sets up the MOOD of the tune. These RH COLORS and LH PATTERNS help us establish an elegant mood.

The LH is often playing simple Shell Patterns (1-5-10 & 1-5-7), which not only creates elegance but also fills in the subdivisions so the listener can feel the Bossa Nova groove. Rhythmically, note how each measure alternates between starting on the DOWNBEAT vs the ANTICIPATION - this creates a balanced groove.

Dmi7-G7 is a fun vamp to experiment with the RH Colors because it's in the key of C, so ALL WHITE KEYS WORK. This is a great arena to explore different shapes, # of notes, textures (spacious vs tight) with your RH colors.
