I was fortunate to be a guinea pig in Barry Harris' masterclass for 2 hours, and he once showed me how to create chords from ANY scale. We all know his 6th Diminished (aka. Bebop Scale), which you can harmonize as 4-way Close, Drop 2, Drop 3, etc. But he made-up a chromatic scale with a twist: every time you land on E go up to G and every time you land on B go up to D. This resulted in this beautiful explosion of jazz piano harmony. Watch as we harmonize this made up scale in the same drop 3 structure.
