Dexter Gordon of course incredible on sax, great solo in my opinion- many great lines you can add to your jazz vocabulary. Dexter is a tough act to follow, but quite a piano solo mid-way.
This one took me be surprise, I came in expecting a lot of guitar- but was pleasantly surprised by the great groove established right from the start, and the amazing piano solo! Great use of double octave melody lines!
Always try to listen to a vocal version to pick up on phrasing, but struggled to find one for this tune. However I found a unique rendition with Chick Corea on piano and Bobby McFerrin vocalizing amazing walking bass lines, and vocal scatting! One of a kind!
