Songs- #3

How To Play Fly Me To The Moon

Listening

  1. Frank Sinatra
  2. Beegie Adair Trio
  3. Bijan Taghavi Trio
  1. Of course, ol' Blue Eyes!
  2. I remember listening to Beegie's rendition of Fly Me as my first true listening experience of jazz and it dazzled me! She swings hard and takes a relaxed tempo, I recommend this listening for all my beginner jazz students!
  3. I always try to put a performance of mine so you can see me practicing what I preach.

Recap

This is a standard that everybody must know, the chord progression is the popular cycle of 4ths (widely known as the circle of 5ths) movement and makes for interesting improvisation. In this tutorial, I took a bluesy approach. In previous performances I've taken chord tone, bluesy, bebop, and all kinds of approaches

Backing Track

PDF Transcription (NOTE: ½ way done, will work more on accuracy further).
